These scoring scenarios show the relative sensitivity of the California Water Footprint score when the scoring curve is modified. Scenario 1 is the ideal and "middle-of-the-road" scenario and could be used if the un-desired (unsustainable) and desired (sustainable) water footprint were defined. California's water footprint is likely to be close to 0 with this scenario because it is currently is very high relative to other industrialized countries. Scenario 2 is relative to water footprints of other countries and has a lower threshold for success, resulting in a score of 50 for California. Scenario 3 is the strictest, with a high threshold for good conditions, which would result in a score of 0 for California.
